What product(s) do you like to use on your color-treated hair? I've been drifting around for a long time, which I guess means that I have not been overly impressed by anything to-date.

Right now I'm alternating between Nioxin 4 - which is for thinning, color-treated hair (I'm getting old y'all
), and a couple of Aubrey Organics products - Honeysuckle Rose Moisturizing Shampoo, and GPB (glycogen protein balancing) Conditioner.

I'm satisfied with these and will continue to use them, but am curious to know if anyone has favorites they can recommend, or things they've tried that we all should avoid.

Question - does anyone know if Baby Shampoo is safe enough to use on color treated hair?

The best product I found for colour treated hair was made by L'Oreal. I stopped using it when I developed my scalp condition. I went on to use a Tea Tree shampoo; I like the Giovanni line and Biotin which helps with thinning hair. My hairdresser told me that Baby Shampoo was actually very harsh. Don't know, now I'm really using a harsh shampoo -- Head and Shoulders but it has helped my scalp. My shampoo cupboard runneth over.

I think we are supposed to avoid SLS which can strip the color and anything labeled "clarifying". I do know that when I use anything with SLS in it my scalp itches like crazy.

I just ordered some Pureology Nanoworks S&C from Amazon which is sposed to be the bomb for colored hair. We'll see.

Well, I just went ahead and bought some baby shampoo and washed my hair! It didn't seem to do any significant or noticeable damage to my hair color.

It's all Peri's fault - a week or so he suggested it as a face wash (and then changed to Neutrogena) - and I've been thinking about it ever since! Sort of like craving a Big Mac - you can't stop thinking about it until you've had one, and then you don't want another one for a long time.

Anyway, they say that baby shampoo is a good soap for washing hair and cosmetic brushes, so that will be the main use. But every once in a long while I may treat myself to a shampoo with it.

Mireckca, I'm also using Aubrey Organics products - Honeysuckle Rose, it smell so good! Aubrey products are chemical free. It shouldn't be harsh for your scalp and soft enough to use on color treated hair. But I have my doubts on baby shampoo, too many chemical. Guide to Less Toxic Products

My scalp was so itchy the last 10 years, and I found this site talking about Para-phenylenediamine, symptoms of a Severe Reaction to Hair Dye
Henna for Hair

After reading this, I don't dye my hair with commercial dye but with henna and not the commercial one.

OK, the best shampoo & conditioner for color-treated hair I can officially say is: PUREOLOGY NANOWORKS!!!

It leaves my hair strong and shiny - as if I had put on a glaze! Very lightweight but deep conditioning - my hair is so baby-fine that most anything weighs it down and makes it look greasy and stringy, so I have to be careful. Usually it's a trade-off between not enough conditioning to leave the ends strong and too heavy a product to keep from making the roots flat. Ta DAH! This works! It smells floral/fruity but fades quickly.

Got it at Amazon.com. It is pricey, but I find I only need to use about half the usual amount and still get decent lathering. This is one product that I'm sure I'll use up instead of relegating to the product graveyard in my closet.

Oh yes. I forgot that the Canadian National Bird is the Mosquito!! And the motto: "Don't let the sun go down on you!!!"

Flower Show sounds fun! You do get around, Mari!
Yes, most visitors think our mosquitoes are hummingbirds -- we've been told they're pesky little things but we're so lucky to have so many. They come in various shades of blood red.

The new Ever Pure line from L' Oreal is phenomenal. It's sulfate free so, none of the harsh chemicals. It makes my hair super soft and the color appears richer. The only issue I have with it is the smell. A little bit minty, a little bit old man. If you can get past that, it's totally worth the $6!
