Skin tightening lazers

I am new here so I apologise if this topic has been discussed before. I have joined specifically for some opinions on skin tightening and I did not find any threads on the topic. I am approaching 50 and in the past few years I had fraxel lazer on wrinkles around my eyes and it works marvelously, but it does not tighten the skin. The fraxel lazer I had at the time didn't but I have been told of a new one that apparently does and is very expensive. I am a bit wary of clinics only backing what they have decided to use and not giving a good comparison with other products.

Does anyone have an opinion or had either the new fraxel, Titan, Thermage or Elos ?

Any suggestions ? I am past creams I think and I dont want to go under the knife.

The only one I've heard about is Thermage. I know a reputable doctor in my town and this is the treatment he recommends. I talked to many of his patients and the results are mixed. There are some women who are quite satisfied and others are not. I have heard a few people mention Accent XL, which I am not really familiar with either.

From what I have read and heard, most laser treatments do not provide significant results. The people who are usually disappointed are the ones who are looking for a night/day difference in their skin. Hope this helps.
Hello, koalagirl. Personally, I'm not too sure about the treatments you mention. While Fraxel is a new type of the same old laser, the other 3 methods use a similar approach to achieve the same effect: they produce a controlled damage to your skin, stimulating your healing processes. The basic difference is that Titan uses infrared light, and Thermage uses radiofrequency; Elos, on the other hand, uses a combination of both techniques. The problem is that this type of controlled damage has not been extensively studied; Titan literally states that "overall structure contracts due to collagen denaturing"... I don't have enough information about these new systems, but denaturing my skin sounds like a bit too much!

I tried the Candela Gentle Yag laser for whole face and neck with NO results. BIG waste of money. Most reviews about lasers are not good. I have purchased the Tua Viso to hopefully get results from muscle stimulation. I just need a little tightening around the jaw line.

Koalagirl,

I would be very careful about getting laser treatment to tighten your skin - there are just too many scary stories out there if you do your research.

Have you thought of facial exercises - there are a number of us on the site here who do them and swear by the results that can be achieved. Very cost effective also
.

You do have to keep up with them - just like exercising your body - but they do work.

Don't waste your money. I wasted $2,000. Didn't do a thing but part me and my money.
