SPF intolerance

Hi all!! I know how important it is to be wearing sunscreen. I have tried multiple brands and formulations but no matter what, my face feels like it is being suffocated and my pores clogged. I end up having to wipe it off. Is there anything you guys have tried that is light weight and does not have that SPF smell and feel???? I would certainly appreciate any help! Thanks, Amy

I've been promoting Mexitan because of the non chemicals factor, I got the 15 & 30 SPF and both leave that "tin man" or white face look, and now they have 50 SPF that will be the gost face? I tried the Burt's Bee 15 SPF and it's like if you were pouring honey on your skin, yark!
I've been thinking of getting some Mexitan to use on my hands. I'd rather have kinda white hands than my face.
I've used the brand Badger before and it was not too bad as far as whiteness goes. High percentage of zinc oxide and Titan. dioxide.

Mariepop whenever i get excema on me hands burt bees cream is great dont know about rest of there stuff though!
IluvNY, I only tried Burt's Bees sunscreen, it's sticky and smelly, and Mari, you will feel dirty immediately!
but it's chemical free! and it leaves the tin man look but not as strong as Mexitan.

Periwinkle: I have to tell you in the Summer I'm outside everyday and after few weeks using it every day and I got few pimples on my arms, but never on my face and legs! So I keep using it on my face (also for Winter), and used it once or twice a week (in Summer) on my arms & legs, that way I did not get pimples, it's only when I use every day, probably my skin needs to breathe, I make sure to take a shower as soon as I'm done outside.

Gymrat: Coloresciense seems to be fabulous! Which one did you buy and how much it is? I checked their site and I didn't see prices on their products and it doesn't seem to have sunscreen for the whole body, just face, neck and shoulder. I guess if it's good for those parts, it's good for any parts

you can look on this site too. It is anywhere from $30-$50. If you get the brush applicator then all you have to do is buy the refills when you run out. But honestly, mine has lasted a very very long time. And yes, I do use this on whatever is being exposed to the sun- not just my face, neck and shoulders

I take it no one is impressed or relies on moisturizers with sunscreen mixed in????
I dont know if this is correct to do but i always put moisturizer on after sunscreen!

Seems many people do but this is far from adequate protection I believe.
It's usually always spf 15 or lower and often not photostable.

Sunscreens should be put on after a moisturizer. Many sunscreens have built in moisturizers.

Baby, have you tried both Bioderma and Avene? Avene Emulsion is for normal/combo skin and sometimes I need something a little more moisturizing or lightweight. What do you rec?

Fawnie i found that the Avenue for sen skin did not soak into my skin well enough and was just bitty and icky!

Try using less and patting it into your skin.

Yeah i did do, just always thought that with spf it is better to use thicker layer and leave this to soak in! Think though il try biotherm next! Eventually il try something i like at least though avenue did not irrate the skin!

To add to my PM comments......not really sure what you should use. Keep trying the top ones out there till you figure it out.

You could try patting on several thin layers instead of one thick one maybe? Or use an oil beneath it? Maybe it just isn't for you though. It IS a little matte for my taste sometimes, especially under foundation. But I like that it doesn't have parabens or bad things and has high PPD. As The Baby says, you just have to try them all to find one you like!!! The Goldilocks Factor.

Is the baby gonna be funding trying out all these suntan lotion? It is good though it dont have any parbens etc in it! Il try again tomo moisturizer than oils then spf! I just found that it does not soak into skin very well and when it eventually did there were still some bits left on face!
I may try it. I have real problems with sunscreens too -- I've thrown out products after only a couple of useages. I don't like the odor, or the texture and my face always feels dirty after a couple of hours. In the past I've also had severe allergic breakouts after using some products. I don't know how protective mineral makeup is but I'm hoping this year it will be the answer.
Yeah.. U might as well get the answer this year. I had to go through a lot of greasy sunscreens before I came to this one. Try getting it from one of the online stores. U get a cheaper deal..

Thanks --I'll do that. I am using a mineral makeup with SPF 30 and I understand it's waterproof. So, even though SPF isn't culmative with products I hope I can beat the sun this year.

So my face really does not like the aveeno my pores seem to get clogged and irrated and am trying to not ruin the good effects of green cream by using wrong spf but am wondering these non chemicals sunscreen the ones with zinc and whatever else are they ok to use as replacement for aveeno or not really?

Just that saw one on crystal clear website without any parbens in it or anything but this is non chemical spf and only 30 is this ok to use with green cream or not really?

Any help on this would be great thanks
I think mineral makeup alone is a poor substitute for a regular high SPF/PPD sunscreen. You don't apply a thick enough layer to really provide reliable protection I would think. And what about your ears, the back of your neck, your chest, hands, arms. You need to apply it there anyway, might as well do it right.

Sofina is a Japanese brand that is lightweight and ppl like it who hate heavy ones. MakeMeHeal.com sells it. I used Cut Milk.

Fawnie have you tryed this product yourself? May be il look it up before buying the cyrstal clear spf, so far these chemical spf my skin dont like at all!
