You should warm up a little when you exercise. It depends what you are doing but you should warm up by doing something slow, whether it is stretching or just starting out slow. When I do stair climber I just start it slow for a while, build up to fast, then slow down at the end. When I was in pilates class we had stretches at the start and at the end for cool down.

I also found that streching is good if you have trouble sleeping. Cause usually when you have trouble sleeping is cause you are too tensed. But when you stretch your muscles relax. And also because o fthe pain you get when you stretch, endorphins get released that make yu feel well.

I find stretching or doing yoga in the morning really improves my energy and mood all day long.

There is a lot of dispute about when the best time to stretch is- but I think you should do it before and after. I do it before because it seems to make my workout a LOT easier and after to give my muscles some relief. It can't hurt.

Yoga and Pliates offer great stretches and toning for the body. If you are able to and have a YMCA near by I highly suggest joining. They offer many different work out classes. My favorite is Bodyflow. It is a combination of yoga, and pilates. I've had amazing results with this class.

i go to a lady that offers stretching as one of her correctional services...

she ties my ankles to a solid
object and my wrists to a type of wooden screw...with each turn of the screw i am stretched ever so slightly......she assures me this is a very old method practiced in england in the middle ages and was used to great effect.....it had the effect of the user being able to find his inner peace(so she says)...

it works for me,and is best when i am totally naked except for a leather mask...this heightens my sensory perception.....

i hope this helps
