THE Best Sunscreen/Sunblock Debate

I have come across 2 of the strongest sunscreens avaliable. . I would like to know which one of these is better? and if there is a better one that can prevent darkening of the skin. Ussually these are rated in PPD (Pigment Darkening UVA blocker) than SPF.

1. ANTHELIOS XL SPF 60 MEXORYL

2. SHISEDO SPF 55 PA+++

what do you guys think? also anthelios is a chemical sunscreen and Shisedo is physical. . or does it not matter?

Thanks

Hi @lillyjill how are things? Sunscreen......well I am just now getting into sunscreen mode, we've had SO much rain this year, its been nice not having to lather up so much! I like/prefer Burnout, it works well for me. When I travel and or it gets really hot where I am I will turn to Purple Prairie. But if white cast is an issue for you, then you may not like it. For myself, I don't care about the white cast when I am trying to protect myself. PP holds up really well in heat/humidity. Bioderma I love, its an old fav of mine, and always keep it in my collection because its great for cooler months.

Thank you for replying !
will look at purple prairie for sure.
For now I'm a shiseido babies children gal .as I'm a NC 13 white cast seems to enhance my color plus I dont care lol
copper tone came out with a 21% zinc sunscreen called baby naturals. Nice finish cheap as well
Banana boat came out with a 21% zinc sunscreen called baby pure and simple Nice finish cheap as well
I know Neutrogena has a Pure/Free Baby, and Banana Boat has a Simply Protect Baby, but I'm not a fan of either brand. I've used Coppertones Water Babies but I'm not a fan of it either. Not sure which one your referring too that contains 21% zinc. I'm a hard sell when it comes to SS. So many are greasy and those type I refuse to wear.

I'll definitely give it a try! Did you find it in your local Target? I looked at one today but didn't see it, I have several I can go too, but figured I'd just order it online.

yes found it at local target. it is a bit oilier than shiseido babies n children though i noticed. Since I have dry skin it might work.
@lillyjill Hello, does the new coppertone sunblock leave white cast? I've been using Aveeno baby continuous protection spf 50 on my neck and hands but not on my face since it leaves a subtle white cast on my face (face is darker than my neck).

Yes it does but very slight. I noticed white casts disppear soon just put powder on top
Hey um does the Purple Prairie sunscreen hold up well against tanning?

Works great for me!
Oooh, has anyone tried Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Zinc Oxide Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50? Seems like a lot of people really love it so far and am in need of a great physical sunblock for my body for the upcoming spring and summer months. I've decided to just get Burnout for my face.
I tried the Coppertone @lillyjill its not for me. Its too greasy for my likings especially for my face but it also left an iridescent look on me.

Its great for those who want to use a high % zinc SS that they can get over the counter locally, but for myself, I will stick with Burnout, finish is much better. Thanks for letting me know about it. You know me, I am willing to try anything with a good amount of zinc.

Yes I've tried it. It contains 20 or 21% zinc (I forget), the finish is similar to the Coppertone Pure/Simple but not as greasy. It isn't by any means a matte finish. So if you are ok with that, do give it a try, I'm sure you can find it locally, I know I did.
Hey gymie. What’s your opinion on black girl sunscreen? I’m sorry if this has already been asked or discussed.

hey there @Arewaa, Black Girl SS is a chemical SS, it won't protect you like a physical SS will. If you look at the "active" ingredients on the back of the BG SS the first 4 are chemicals...those are what you want to stay away from.

What SS are you currently using? Or are you just shopping for one?

Shopping for one sis. Sunscreen is the worst skincare item to shop for me. All these physical and chemical things to consider.. It’s so stressful girl 🤯

I’ve always just avoided it altogether it but it’s beginning to catch up on my skin.
Why does burnout leave gray ashy cast on my face?
