I've recently begun to wax my underarms. I noticed that I started forming skin tags/growths. They are thin pieces of skin protruding from the surface. I didn't really know why they were forming... until now!

I waxed again a week ago and the hair on my underarms was starting to grow back again. I wanted to help some of the hairs break out of the skin's surface to minimize ingrown hairs. As I did this, I noticed that there was a little pus around the hair. I pulled the hair out and used tweezers to press around the pore area. I wiped off the pus. I continued squeezing, until I realized that what was coming out was no longer pus, but actual skin. The pore inverted and became a skin tag!

I tested this on two more pores and the exact same thing happened.

I am convinced that when I wax, I pull the hair out and that causes the skin to invert as it is being dragged by the hair. This causes permanent protrusions of skin.

Has anyone else had this experience or know anything about it???

Why don't you try letting a proffessional wax to see if the technique/angle used give you better results? Skin tags themselves are no big deal. If they bother you, you can have them frozen off in most dr's offices. May charge a fee for it though. Don't remember it being very much when I saw the fee schedule posted in an office once.

Just got rid of a few skin tags with 18% TCA the largest one is still there and will have to do again, but this seems to be working to get rid of them

I just looked up skin tags and it doesn't say anything about them being caused by waxing although underarms is the most common place for them to appear. I had one removed and it took seconds. If your doctor checks the growth as if it may be cancerous or something more than just a harmless skin tag, it can be covered under insurance since in that case it's not just cosmetic.
