Hello everyone, I just joined in and was impressed with the forum. I would like to ask for your advice. My friend is setting up a beauty clinic and wants to make it truly special, maintaining the highest standards. I would like to help by asking you, what is it that you are missing in the clinics now, what would you value, what service would you be happy to receive. Thank you very much.

Hi Katia! Welcome!'

What would I like in a beauty clinic?

Well, #1 it has to be surgically clean! I hate to see nasty waxing pots with hairy sticks lying about in the same room I am getting a facial!

#2 Pleasant people and surroundings. Not overly chatty, but calm. Nice soft music and water sounds. Not noisy from businesses nearby. Not rushed. No phones ringing please. No food lying about and no "coffee breath" please!

#3 Good products and services. I can find Aveda just about anywhere & it isn't special. The overly fragranced stuff is a big no-no. Just something that works and doesn't make my skin go crazy. Lymphatic drainage is a nice service to offer and shows results quickly! '
Hope this helps you in some way.

Thank you very much, yes it helped and I agree completely. I also think that a clinic has to be intelligent somehow. Once you enter, you must feel that professionals will take care of you. I also would like to see some new types of treatment. For example, what do you think about personalized creams, based on your DNA profile. Do you believe in that, would you be interested?

Why would you need to get your DNA profiled to get a good cream? There's a Baumann chart or something like that which has 15 different types of skin profiles, that much easier considering DNA reading costs anywhere from $400 for very very basic tests to as much as $2,000 a shot. I don't see that working.

I love Aveda products but that is mainly cause they keep my coloured intact!! They are very powerful though, going back to the subject, what I love about the salon I go is that the girls are all very nice, very tidy and well presentable, good price for things like facials etc and they would never try to sell me anything without giving me samples to try out first that way Im not waisting my money without knowing if a product is any good or not, more salons should sell products that actually work too and not any old rubbish!! Hope it works out for her

Customer service, customer service, customer service. Did I mention customer service? You can always find any beauty clinic product online cheaper, but customer service will make customers loyal and coming back.

Thank you for your replies and advice.

I looked at the services given by 20 or so clinics and they all list the same treatments. Everyone offers laser hair removal, dermal fillers, botox, peels...
I guess that means these treatments are what customers want.

In my opinion, the new level of treatment is behind science. That is why I asked about DNA based creams. I think it would be nice to know in advance if you have a higher risk of getting wrinkles early, or prominent sun damage signs, or even skin diseases. With DNA you can learn and take preventive measures that are tailored to your skin, your genes. Or do you think people do not believe in that?

Do you know of any scientific studies done on them? We have a low tolerance for hype!
