Also her fingercombing routine spares hairs a lot of breakage.

To also reduce breakage when wet, before you wash it comb it out. When you have the conditioner in, comb out the tangles. And afterwards, use a wide tooth comb! It would also help if you put stuff like detanglers, oil, leave in conditioners, whatever on your hair to help w/ tangles.
