I've noticed that there seems to be an increase in ladies who are looking for non-HQ products and routes towards lighter skin, so I figured it'd be good to have a thread with each persons favourite non-HQ/Steroid products to use. :)

I don't have anything to contribute yet other than:

Coconut oil (I swear by this)
Carbolic Soap (Does a great job at clearing my skin, and I have a feeling it exfoliates a bit because my skin gets super clean, almost "squeaky")
Fresh lemons (I peel them like oranges, and use one segment at at a time)
Baking Soda (I made a paste with water and use it to exfoliate, I've also used a segment of lemon in it as well)
Frankincense Essential Oil (This has been amazing to my skin. It gives my skin a gorgeous glow, and helps clear up dark marks/evens tone)

Feel free to share! Hopefully if this gets as detailed as I hope, I'll compile them all into the OP in organized sections.

Haha, I know what you mean! I bought a bag of 5 for I think $3, and I used it up within 2 weeks, and that was me slacking off.

have u seen significant lightening with these things. Where do u get the frankincense oil

I've seen an improvement in my skin primarily in terms of evening tone, these tend to even my skin out, brighten, and give me a healthy glow.
Yes, I have seen some lightening. However, I think it's mostly removing darkened skin and exposing my natural colour, rather than going lighter than my natural colour. I wouldn't depend on this primarily for lightening. I definitely don't think it does anything to inhibit melanin production.

The baking soda is a staple in the summer for me! Even on my legs, which never see sunlight outside, it removes whatever "tan" has occurred. The amount of dirt, and darkening I remove from my face after one day is great, plus my skin is very soft afterwards.

As for the frankincense oil, my mother had it in the house.
She's an aromatherapist, so she's got several essential oils around. She told me that Frankincense is great for skin, so I jumped on using it! It seriously improved my dark spots from pimples/blackheads on my face, and helped with removing the darkening on other areas of my body such as my elbows.
You most definitely have to dilute the oil. I'd put one drop in my face cream, for example. After several days, I upped it to two, but I would feel slight burning on my skin. Not enough to damage though.
You do not want to put the oil directly on your skin, as it will cause burning. (If you do, don't wash with water it doesn't help at all, use a vegetable oil, coconut oil etc to help dilute and soothe.)

My mother purchased a lot of these essential oils from health food stores, but the highest grade of frankincense oil I know of is from YoungLiving, my mom adore those oils they are quite pricey though. But the higher the grade, the better the results and quality. Example: YoungLiving I think it's about $50 for 10ml of the frankincense oil. However I saw another brand at a health food store for around $38.
I love the oil, and fully intend to make it a staple in my skincare.

Note: I believe it's good for skin rejuvination, which might be an issue if you're trying to lighten dramatically. I'm not sure if it'll cause you to darken, I have no experience in that unfortunately. It has lightened my dark elbows though.

I've heard so many wonderful things about milk protein products, but have yet to try it. I do have this Kiwi and Yogurt face wash that was amazing though. What brand do you purchase?
