Hi,I'm new here. I have very dry skin and wonder if anyone knows a good makeup for this that also has good coverage.

For dry skin, it is important to moisturize enough before you put makeup. A few great ways to provide sufficient moisture to your skin is:

1. Great moisturizing product (I personally recommend Clinique moisture surge)
2. Facial mask sheets

Facial masks can be used by both men and women from all ages but generally people the age of 18 and up tend to use it the most. Masks are applied after you wash your face and left on for a duration of 15-20 minutes.

Benefits of facial mask sheets include:

  • Convenience - No mess. Apply within 20 secs. Simple and quick to use. Take it with you on your trips or apply it on your flight.
  • Highly effective - Immediate difference after use, quick results. Users swear that high quality face masks have a better effect than a $90 facial.
  • Organic ingredients - Natural skin care that energizes and detoxifies our face skin.
  • Perfect budget - Great prices starting from $2 and up.
  • Easy to carry - Very light and in a sealed packet. Easy to carry around during vacation.
  • Special occasions - Use the night before or on the morning of a special occasion such as a wedding, party or conference. No need to book at a spa and spend time traveling and waiting.
  • Great makeup absorption - Applying make up after the use of a face mask maximizes the absorption of makeup. Leads to smooth and shiny skin.
  • Gifts - Great gifts for your girlfriend, daughters, moms, wives. Even great for men since it is so easy and they can hide in their home.

Make sure you are using the correct skin care to dry skin first of all. Then use a hydrating primer before your foundation. And remember to exfoliate on a regular basis so skin does not become patchy and grab your foundation on application

CLinique makes a good primer..they have a tinted one as well. Doesn't dry out my skin at all. I also like Monistat Chafing Powder Gel...works great as a face primer. I know what you're thinking as I couldn't believe it either but it does work!

Definetly treat your dry skin first, because no makeup is going to solve the problem, definetly work out a regimen for your dry skin, and a good moisturizer is a must.
Bubbie, again, use a moisturizer and any primer would do really, just don't use them too often because it will clog your pores. I only use primers on special occasions or if I'm going out.
Smashbox Primer
Estee Lauder
CoverFX
GOSH
Body Shop
There's so many to choose from. I've use the Smashbox, CoverFX, Body Shop and Gosh, and they all work good.

I love Smashbox Halo. I've ditched Bare Escentuals foundation for SH!!! I moisturize well, then use a good primer and apply my SH. I don't have to touch up my face all day except for lipstick.

I'm dead in LOVE with Smashbox Halo. Ahhhhhhhh. Wonderful. I need absolutely NO under eye concealer-nada with Halo. It's perfection! I buy mine for half the retail cost from 2 trusted ebay sellers.

And it lasts what seems like forever!!!! There's a LOT of product in there!

Your skin looks awesome Sandia. I have a lot of work yet to do! Years of sun damage etc to reverse. I think I need another year! What do you feel has most contributed to your great skin?

Your skin looks awesome Sandia. I have a lot of work yet to do! Years of sun damage etc to reverse. I think I need another year! What do you feel has most contributed to your great skin? Sandia do you get the fair color or the medium. Our skin tone is very close to the same
Thank you! I attribute my good skin primarily to genetics. If your skin tone is similar to mine, get the SH in Light. The Fair is for very pale skin. I actually have some in Fair and Light and sometimes mix the 2, but Light is probably what you need.

I use this as a foundation and I love the coverage-not pancakey at all. I still love Bare Escentuals, but I have stuck with SH since the first of the year when a good friend of mine suggested I try it. She was also a die-hard B.E. foundation user, but she switched also.

It's very expensive!! That's why I do ebay!! Sign up for a Paypal account. I've had one for years and never had trouble, plus if you pay thru Paypal you have protection if your product is faulty or not as described.

Sandia; you look lovely, and I am going to check out this foundation, too. I haven't checked out e-bay in eons and eons, and I no longer have a paypal account. However, it is making me reconsider revisiting e-bay.

who do you get it from on Ebay? I may consider getting a Paypal account. I really miss EBAY. I use to buy so much from there but when they went to all PAYPAL I quit buying. I use a credit card online but was scared to death of PP. I have no idea why???? Thanks Sandia. Really your skin is really smooth and looks great. Genetics help but we have to take care of it also! Mine looks better NOW than it did 6 years ago.

I'm hoping to get rid of some of the fine lines I have with my routine now. Vit C serum, Ret. A, etc. I could post some closeups- I have fine lines that will be deep if I don't do something NOW. I wish I'd known about ADC before lately! I'd have been on Retin A like gangbusters way before now! I'll look on ebay and let you know who I've bought this from.

She is very reliable- perfect condition when I got my SH. eBay Seller: 9250laurie: Health Beauty items on eBay.com

I hear ya Sandia. I have fine lines under my eyes and crow's feet but in the 2 months of using RA and Vit C WOW they are much better BUT still I can see them. Like you I wish so much I had known about ADC 10 years ago, but hey I got in on it before I became a true hag. tee hee. Maybe now I can slow things down and at least appear 10 years younger all my life. I am going to try like hell. thanks for the links!

LOL I'm trying to rewind some time like gangbusters! I'm gonna spot peel out from the sides of my mouth where I've developed some little lines in a few weeks. I'm really red and peely there now from RA. Weird how my chin and the NL fold areas are getting red and flaky from the RA, but nowhere else on my face! YW for the links.

I use Halo in the Light color..the Medium turned so orangey on me. Light really washes out my face but then I add back color with this, also in Light:

Sephora: Guerlain Terracotta Mineral Flawless Bronzing Powder: Bronzer
It's not as shimmery as Summer Stones bronzer and is still a believable slightly tan color. Then some of this:

CHANEL : JOUES CONTRASTE POWDER BLUSH - MAKEUP

What a nice product, thanx Sandia!

Goat, I was skeptical about PayPal too. I have a separate bank account that I use just for PayPal and only keep a certain amount in, so that if the PayPal account does get hacked at least they won't get much. So far, so good. And PayPal does go to bat for you if there is a problem with a vendor on EvilBay.

#31 ·
Ya I am a little worried about the medium not being a good match. The light was just too light.

I do have the Guerlain bronzer, if the medium ends up being too dark, I can return it for the light and try the bronzer ontop.

Are you using the Dior Nude, then this Halo? Or just Halo? I want to go do my face, but I am SO tired at the moment-

I love fridays, because the week is over, but by friday night, I am just pooped!!!

I'm just using Halo over my SS for now. I'm saving Diorskin Nude for winter when I need a heavier foundation and more moisture layers. I really like Nude the best of any foundations but it's too "perfect" looking...does that make sense? Halo lets my freckles show thru and looks more natural.

Halo is *somewhat* forgiving and blurs fine lines, but it demands good skin otherwise, which is why I'm frying off those little upper lip lines that I didn't realize were there until I put the Halo on! It really made them stand out.

Relax and take off your face Rat! Have a cybercocktail and enjoy Friday nite!!

#33 ·
Oh, no fawnie. Is this Halo like wearing mineral makeup? Where it accentuates all your fine lines????? I don't need to be reminded that they are there!!

OH NO, not liking the sounds of this-

Yes, DH just got in from golf, I hope he is tired too-I am happy just sitting here! It is football season, so the little one is off to the football game. And Sampson is happy watching the wild rabbits run around out front. Not bad entertainment for a friday night-

Yes it's exactly like MMU but it's more moisturizing. Which prompted the TCA peel today!!! Once it does its magic I should be good to wear it, but without those pesky lines. Yes it shows up the bigger ones but blurs the small ones. Nude does a better job of smoothing but it's just tooooo heavy in the summer for me. Do you wear it in the summer Rat?

Yeah just have a relaxing night here at the cybercafe!

#35 ·
I wear it when we go somewhere that I need to look half way decent. But on a everyday basis, no way. Most days I don't wear a full face of makeup. Just mascara, little blush and gloss.

I need to look at what I bought today at Sephora. I got a couple new things. You will have to tell me if you have ever tried these. Let me go grab my bag-

I am a sucker in the beauty department!!!

Cargo reverse lip liner. Lancome definicils mascara. Sephora ultra gloss shine #60 and a Sephora Nano lip liner (lovely lilac) and of course the Halo in medium

#38 ·
Nano lip liner? that sounds great! What is "nano" about it?

Yep Reverse Liner is good for special occasions...too much trouble for every day tho. Definicils...you can't go wrong with that! It's a classic...unlike the vibrating thingey!! Did you try Lancome's Oscillation vibrating thingey?

#39 ·
I don't know they said the nano liner is new, so I thought why not!! Yes, I tried the vibrating mascara of lancomes. I think I will stick with the ol definicils-I love that stuff.

I wil try this reverse liner, she said it is perfect for gloss girls.
